Cleveland police patrolman Michael Brelo entered a no contest plea Monday to a reduced charge of persistent disorderly conduct in a case involving a fight with his brother.
Brelo entered the plea in Rocky River Municipal Court.
He was charged with assault in June after a fight with his twin brother, Mark.
This came just days after he was acquitted of voluntary manslaughter in a 2012 police chase and shooting that left two unarmed people dead.
The original assault complaint filed with Bay Village police stated that the brothers struck each other in the head, face and body, causing visible injuries.
Police responded to Michael's neighborhood after a woman reported that an intoxicated man had knocked on her door and asked her to call police.
Police said the man was Mark Brelo and he was arrested for intoxication. Police wrote in his citation that he was walking down the street intoxicated, wearing only shorts, and knocking on the doors of several homes.
That's when Mark told police he had gotten in a fight with his brother.
Both brothers originallypleaded not guilty to their assault charges. Mark was also charged with disorderly conduct. He is set to head to trial on Jan. 11.
