A Cleveland family is living through an agonizing roller coaster of emotions.
The man accused of killing their loved one in March was finally arrested. Or so they thought.
As it turns out, the cops got the wrong guy.
U.S. Marshals originally announced Monday that Carlos Garcia-Torro had been arrested. Authorities later said the man taken into custody was actually Garcia-Torro's relative.
Carlicia Conner feels like she’s living a nightmare.
“He’s stalking us, nobody’s doing anything about it," Conner said. "He’s calling us. I haven’t had a phone because I’m scared to have a phone. We’re being traumatized. We’re sick to our stomachs. It’s horrible."
Conner claims the man accused of shooting and killing her friend, 22-year-old Jose Reyes, has been tormenting her and Reyes’ family—even sending a taunting Facetime video.
“When we thought he was in custody we were like ‘yes, he can’t touch any of us.' He sends us death threats that he’s gonna kill us all. He’s gonna kill our babies, everybody. He says I’m gonna kill all you guys,” Conner said.
U.S. Marshals announced Monday a fugitive wanted for homicide was taken into custody, but they soon found out that the person who was arrested was a family member—not the suspect.
