CLEVELAND - From a downtown bash featuring Drew Carey to a 1960s soul dance craze show at one of the city's legendary show venues, Cleveland has a great variety of events for your New Year's Eve.
6 p.m., Public Square, Cleveland
This free inaugural party will feature live music from dub-step trio Krewella, fireworks, live ice sculptures, live bands, in-crowd performers, food trucks, beer - oh, and Drew Carey is special guest.
9 p.m., Beachland Ballroom, $15 for champagne toast & hors d'oeurvres
This Akron soul group's giddy, sweaty, dance-crazy shows have been gathering steam for the last couple years in Cleveland, and - if you don't believe they're authentically Mad Men-era music junkies - just this month the band finally broke down and released a digital version of one of their original songs - the first that wasn't exclusively sold on vinyl. Grab a listen on their Facebook page - but you have to see them live to truly appreciate their vibe.
9 p.m., tickets start at $45.
The Romantics will play the Rocksino for the venue's first NYE in Cleveland.
9 p.m., $3
A live DJ, prom-style photos and punch will make this a unique New Year's Eve party.
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., free with zoo admission
Ring in the New Year well ahead of bedtime with the little ones.
$10; free for kids under 10
There are a variety of venues around downtown Akron. They have something for every member of the family, from music to dancing to magic to arts and crafts.
