It was 1948 the last time the Cleveland Indians took home the the World Series trophy. That's 68 years.
For the Chicago Cubs, in was 1908 – 108 years ago.
These two teams have waited more than any other franchises in Major League Baseball to break the curse. But, at the end of the 2016 World Series, that will all change.
Fans in Cleveland said it still doesn't feel real.
"On Monday, it'll really start to sink in," said Ron Jividen.
Even the smallest of fans know the magnitude of the matchup.
"It's kind of scary because they might lose and that's going to be really bad. But if they win, then it'll be really, really good," said Ryan O'Leary.
The Tribe last made it to the World Series in 1997. The team would end up losing in seven games to the Florida Marlins.
But fans say this trip around to the big championship is different.
"This is just on a totally different level," said Patty Sullivan. "They seem so happy relaxed and into it."
The Cleveland native said she remembers watching the '97 series standing outside the fences at the once called Jacob's Field. But this time around, Sullivan will be inside.
"I am beyond thrilled," she said.
The Indians will take on the Cubs starting on Tuesday. Game 1 starts at 8:08 p.m. at Progressive Field.
