CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District recently discontinued its take-home iPad program due to multiple thefts while students traveled home.
Superintendent Doug Heuer held a forum Thursday night with the three city mayors and their chiefs of police seeking the community's input.
"We're getting ideas, we're working with the police, we continue to assess what risk is involved, and we also need to know what risks parents are willing to accept," said Heuer.
Some suggestions include more police patrols, student awareness of threat, permanent ID stickers and GPS tracking for iPads.
The goal remains to get the iPads back in the student's hands to take home but in a safer way.
