Cleveland Heights Big Dog Theater comedy club in Coventry closing at end of December

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - A theater in Cleveland Heights' Coventry neighborhood is closing its doors at the end of the year.

The Big Dog Theater on Euclid Heights Boulevard would have celebrated its second anniversary in the Centrum in February.

The owner of Big Dog posted a message on the theater's website saying the decision was not easy, but "it was one that had to be made and it is time to say goodbye."

The Big Dog was an improv comedy club and featured various comedians, sketch groups, theater troupes, films and other performances.

"I am one of the luckiest people to have been able to start this theater and I have enjoyed every single minute of this amazing two year ride!" said owner Don Mitri. "Big Dog Theater will continue to offer classes/workshops as well as providing corporate education and outreach programs. Booking private and public shows will continue."

The Big Dog will still feature two shows in December – one on Dec. 21 and another Dec. 28.
