CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Fire Department battled a large blaze at a historic building in Tremont.
According to firefighters, crews started battling the fire at West17th Street and Willey Avenue just after 7 a.m.
The building is the old Fairmont Creamery building. It was recently sold to become a 30 unit apartment complex set to open in October 2014.
There is a waiting list to get one of these upcoming apartments in the Tremont area.
No injuries were reported but some construction workers were inside the building when the fire started and they somehow ignited some cork insulation.
"These buildings are very hazardous to firefighters and when they catch on fire, one you can't see anything and two there are so many turns and twists, ramps, and stairwells"
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The creamery updated its Facebook page during the fire saying “everyone is safe. We are grateful the fire department is working hard to put it out.
