High levels of E. coli are the reason a "no swimming" sign has become part of the landscape at Euclid and Villa Angela beaches, and Councilman Mike Polensek now wants Lake Erie investigated.

Polensek said the pollution in Lake Erie is unacceptable and wants action to be taken.

He has proposed a resolution to the city council to have the United States Environmental Protection Agency come to the lake and investigate the cause of the high levels.

This continuous problem has driven thousands away from Cleveland's east side beaches, Polensek said.

Council is set to vote on the proposal at the Sept. 21 council meeting.
