CLEVELAND - A former Cleveland Clinic nurse who pleaded guilty in a murder-for-hire plot involving a patient is set to be sentenced.
Andrew Martin faces seven to nine years in prison when he's sentenced Wednesday in a Cleveland federal courtroom.
Martin pleaded guilty back in April, admitting to using a phone to further the plot. Authorities say he offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother's home.
Martin also admitted to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and trying to obtain private medical records.
Investigators say the patient tipped off police that he had been asked by a nurse if he "ever killed anyone."
The intended victim wasn't harmed.
