Brothers attempt to steal $1,000 fish from Independence store

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - Two brothers were arrested overnight, after police say they attempted to steal an expensive fish from an Independence business.

An employee of William Tricker, Inc., who lives near the aquarium supplies store on Tanglewood Drive, called 911 at around 12:11 a.m. Monday, after spotting a suspicious person running from the store.

Independence police responded to the area to set-up a perimeter. Officers found the suspect walking to a getaway vehicle, with the stolen Koi fish in hand, which is worth an estimated value of $1,000 to $1,500.

Police said the suspect admitted to taking the fish, stating that Trickers would not refund his money after his fish died 29 days after he brought it.

The suspects, Fawaz Mansour, 19, and his brother Fady Mansour, 18, who was also the getaway driver, were arrested. Fawaz has been charged with criminal trespassing and felony theft. His brother, Fady, has been charged with felony theft.

The unharmed fish was returned to William Tricker, Inc., according to police.
