Brooklyn High School teacher Cheri Gorey receives national honor from Siemens Foundation

BROOKLYN, Ohio - Brooklyn High School teacher Cheri Gorey is in an elite group -- one of only 40 teachers from across the country to get a prestigious award.

Gorey and the other 39 teachers will get grants from the Siemens Teacher as Researchers (STARs) fellowship program to benefit the students in their classrooms. The money can be used for equipment or supplies.

The STARs event takes place this summer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from June 16-28.

The program is designed to empower teachers to bring excitement of authentic research into their classrooms and inspire students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.

Gorey will be alongside leading scientists and other STARs participants getting tours and going to seminars to learn more ways about incorporating research into the classroom.
