NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Three different charities are benefiting from a cash windfall, thanks to the new Thistledown Racino in North Randall.
Just before the Racino opened to customers on a 24/7 basis, a "trial run" was held for charity. Invited guests got to pay the Racino's 1,100 video lottery terminals. More than $51,000 was raised.
The three charities to benefit are Harvard Community Service Center, CANTOR Ohio and Real Life 101. Each got $17,255.04 for their programs.
Thistledown got a major makeover for the Racino including the 57,000-square foot gaming space and five new restaurants. Patrons can start betting on horse races on April 19.
