Promises of lake and city views not true, they say

Dozens of people who purchased condos in Cleveland’s trendy Battery Park neighborhood have signed a petition demanding the city halt a project that threatens to obstruct their promised panoramic lake and city views.

Neighbors living in those condos near West 74th Street between Detroit Avenue and The Memorial Shoreway showed newsnet5.com official literature promising “rooftop green terraces with panoramic views of Lake Erie and downtown Cleveland.”

But now, Park Place, a five and a half story development on West 73rd Street, promises to block the view of the other condos, all of which are only three and a half stories tall.

Steve Spisak purchased his unit at the beginning of the year and said he was never told about the project.

“We did not invest in living on a walled street,” Spisak said. “To say that we were a little upset, we are highly upset.”

The developer, the Willoughby-based Vintage group, was still advertising lake and city views on its website as on Wednesday afternoon.

The firm did not immediately respond to calls and emails requesting an on-camera interview.
