American Heart Association gives local hospitals $9.4 million for heart and stroke research

CLEVELAND - Nearly one in three Americans will die from heart disease. That's why the American Heart Association believes research is important.

The American Heart Association distributed $9.4 million dollars to local hospitals for heart and stroke research. Researches from several local hospitals are working on projects that could save countless lives through advances in cardiovascular medicine.

"Every medical invention, innovation comes from research even if it's clinical research, research done 20 years ago to form a drug that's just being released today, we need to fund that basic translation and clinical research all three over different time lines will save lives," said Geoff Vince with the Cleveland Clinic.
