7 indicted on fraudulent prescription drug ring

CLEVELAND - Seven people were indicted in a fraudulent drug prescription ring in Cuyahoga County Thursday.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors allege that Angela Hicks, 36, of Henritze Avenue in Cleveland, got blank prescriptions from University Hospitals and Joshua S. Hicks, 30, also of Henritze Avenue in Cleveland, recruited the five others charged and taught them how to get the fake prescriptions filled at pharmacies around Cuyahoga County.

According to the 80-count indictment, the prescriptions were used to illegally obtain oxycodone. The group is charged with trafficking, drug possession, deception to obtain a dangerous drug and other charges.

The others charged are:

  • Amanda Manns, 33, of Independence
  • Jesse A. Roop, 26, of Independence
  • April M. Vedova, 35, of Clevleand
  • Donald Lemieux, 37, of Cleveland
  • Idalia Hernandez, 21, of Cleveland

All seven are scheduled to be indicted in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Nov. 5.
