2014 Moondog Coronation Ball celebrates 62nd Anniversary with special tribute to John Lanigan

CLEVELAND - In 1952 the first Moondog Coronation Ball was held at the Cleveland Arena. Sixty-two years later it is still going strong. This years event was held at Quicken Loans Arena.

Thousands turned out to to listen to bands that they grew up on. With the likes of Tommy James and the Shondells, John Kay and Steppenwolf, Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone and the Family Stone.

This was a special year as the Moondog Coronation Ball paid special tribute to John Lanigan who has been a fixture on the local radio scene for the past forty three years. The last 27 years on WMJI.

Kristin Foley, who took her mom to the show, says "He is just a real Cleveland legend, he is just a real person and we are going to miss him."

Matt Martovitz won tickets from WMJI and this his first Coronation Ball.

He says, "John Lanigan's going to be here and Mark Nolan is taking over and it's just great for Cleveland."
