Two women were taken to the hospital following a "serious" crash where the driver struck a tree and a home in Cleveland early Saturday morning, police said.

According to police, the 23-year-old female driver was heading west in a Ford Focus on Lotus Avenue at an "unreasonable speed" for weather conditions. The car traveled off the right side of the road, where the road curves, before striking a small tree.

The car continued westbound before striking the front of a home at the 15500 block of Lotus Avenue.

The driver suffered internal injuries and a fractured left ankle. The 24-year-old female passenger also suffered internal injuries. Both were taken to University Hospital for treatment.

No one in the house was injured in the crash.

Police have not yet determined a cause of the crash. The incident is under investigation.
