BRECKSVILLE, Ohio - Many college students aspire to become writers someday. It's unusual when an 11-year-old has the same aspirations. That's exactly what Aiden Shugert plans to do.
"I like reading and writing. One day I wrote down a couple of ideas and thought maybe I could write a book," said Aiden Shugert, a sixth-grade student at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School.
"The Marvelous Misadventures of the Fab Five" was recently released. It's a book of short stories that Shugert feels will be popular with kids his age.
Shugert had to pay for his own publishing. To cover the cost, he worked long hours at a family-operated farm.
"I even shoveled the poop," Shugert said.
Shugert recently transferred into the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District. Kathy Wojtowicz, Shugert's language arts teacher, was thrilled to learn that her new student was already a published author.
"It's a wonderful story for kids in that age group. It shows a lot of creativity and a lot of thought that went into the book," Wojtowicz said.
Shugert is already planning on writing his next book.
"When I'm free ,I'll write it piece by piece. It may be ready early next year," Shugert said.
