Two men arrested after Amish teens shot in Ashtabula County

WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Two men, Kenneth and Michael Jameson, are in Ashtabula County Jail following a shooting Saturday.

A 17-year-old Ashtabula County girl and 18-year-old Daniel Burkholder of Geauga County were hit when the Jamesons allegedly fired shots at a group in an Amish transport van they believed was trespassing but was actually looking to retrieve a radio.

The two victims were taken to Geauga Medical Center then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center. Both are currently in the ICU there and expected to survive.

The driver and eight other passengers inside the van were not injured.

Kenneth and Michael Jameson have been charged with four counts each of felonious assault with bond set at $250,000.

The sheriff's office also noted in a news release that in the state of Ohio, deadly force can be used only to prevent serious bodily harm or death and never solely to protect property.

They said if law enforcement and prosecutors determine that use of deadly force is not justified, criminal charges may be pursued.

The shooting remains under investigation.
