PD: Brutal slaying suspect captured in Ashtabula

A wanted fugitive from Buffalo, New York was captured in Ashtabula Monday, according to the Ashtabula Police Department.

Police said the fugitive was wanted for the brutal slaying of a barber shop keeper last week in Buffalo. Information gained by Deputy U.S. Marshals and Buffalo Homicide Detectives led to the arrest of the suspect in Ashtabula. 

The arrest occurred at a home on Woodman Avenue.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident after he jumped from a second story window, police said. The suspect had a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun when he was arrested. He also had heroin and cocaine in his possession. 

Police said the suspect will face local charges for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drugs, and weapons under disability. He will also face federal charges for weapons violations.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Western New York Violent Fugitive Task Force, Ashtabula Police, Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office, and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority helped to capture the suspect.
