Two people were injured when they were thrown from a horse-drawn buggy after a crash in Williamsfield Township Wednesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chevy truck and the buggy were both traveling westbound on U.S. Route 322 when the truck ran into the back of the buggy.

The passengers in the buggy—68-year-old Clara Miller and 44-year-old Marianne Miller—were both thrown from the buggy.

Both vehicles then continued off to the right side of the road and came to a rest.

The driver of the truck—51-year-old Jeffrey Fleming—was not injured.

Clara sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Marianne sustained non life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to St. Joseph's Clinic in Andover. Clara was then transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The crash is still under investigation but authorities say alcohol does appear to be a factor.
