Ohio State Highway Patrol seizes $5,000 worth of marijuana on traffic stop in Ashland County

ASHLAND, Ohio - Ohio State Highway Patrol seized $5,000 of marijuana from a car during a traffic stop in Ashland County last week, they reported on their Facebook page.

Troopers stopped the driver for an improper lane change and following too closely on Interstate 71 NB near the 180 mile marker at around 4 p.m. March 6. Troopers said they could smell marijuana and searched the car.

They found the vaccuum-sealed bag with about a pound of marijuana in a suitcase in the trunk. Troopers said they also found $7,000 cash in the center console.

The driver, James C. Davis, Jr., 32, of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana.
