ASHLAND CO, Ohio - A Middleburg Heights man is in jail after 30 pounds of marijuana were seized in a traffic stop in Ashland County.
Troopers said they stopped a rented 2013 Ford Taurus, with Ohio registration, for a taillight violation on Interstate 71 southbound, near milepost 187 in Ashland County at 10:52 p.m. Wednesday.
A probable cause search revealed four Diazepam pills and approximately three grams of marijuana in the center console, as well as two large cardboard boxes containing 30 pounds of marijuana
The driver, 35-year-old Jason V. Powell, was put in the Ashland County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both third-degree felonies.
The drugs have a street value of $137,410, according to highway patrol.
