A man who is accused of murdering two women whose bodies were found in a vacant home earlier this month pled not guilty to murder charges.

Thursday, 40-year-old Shawn Michael Grate was arraigned in the Ashland County Common Pleas Court via Skype.

Last week, a 23 count indictment was filed against Grate, including charges of kidnapping, murder, aggravated murder, and rape.

Grate's case began when a woman called Ashland police earlier this monthreporting she was being held in a home against her will. When officers responded to the area of East 4th Street and Covert Court, they found the woman alive along with Grate and the remains of two other women.

Grate was also linked to two other deaths.
