WATCH: Power of 5 Meteorologist Trent Magill participates in 2013 Tough Mudder in Michigan

CLEVELAND - I took a trip to Brooklyn, Mich. to participate in the Tough Mudder. I thought I knew what I was in for - I was wrong!

When you think of the "Toughest Event on the Planet," you think you'd need to be in top physical shape. Only 78 percent of participants finish each Tough Mudder. That was a no brainer, this was going to be tough (pun intended) to say the least. And it was.

What caught me off guard wasn't the physical intensity but the camaraderie. Before they sent us off, we all took a verbal oath. We vowed to put our "Fellow Mudders" ahead of our finish time. If a Tough Mudder sees someone struggling, he or she would help. Whether it was just bringing a banana to a cramping mudder or helping them over a 10-foot wall - everyone helped everyone.

Yes, it was a grueling 12-mile jog through ankle-deep mud, at times knee deep muddy water. But the positive attitude of fellow Mudders made it bearable. I often forgot about my feet sloshing around in my shoes. The mud caked in my eyes, ears, nose and mouth soon became an afterthought. By the end, it seemed like the more mud I had on me, the better I felt.

I wore a GoPro camera on my forehead through the entire event. I edited out the running and am showing you all of the obstacles. Enjoy the video! (By the way, when you get to the Electric Eel you'll hear me yell. Those have 10,000 volts running through the wires.) On a side note, you'll notice in the very last obstacle I go down, hard! I hyperextended my knee. It was swollen for a few days but I'll heal. I'll be ready for next spring!

This was my first of many Tough Mudders I plan to complete. If you've heard about the Tough Mudder and have wanted to participate, let me be the first one to tell you it is TOTALLY WORTH IT! As a matter of fact, I will be participating the the 2014 Ohio Tough Mudder and would like to invite everyone to run with me.
