Am I the only person who gets excited about Fridays?
Friday is one of my favorite days of the week because it signals the end of my workweek and the beginning of quality time with family and friends. Doing things that I want to do with people I enjoy being with. Hello weekend, so happy to see you again.
What I love most about weekends is that I usually have a choice on whether or not I want to be a part of society or stay at home and do nothing. If I choose to stay inside and hibernate there is a certain uniform that I wear to feel comfy. My bottoms are usually baggy, sweats or pajama pants, the top is oversized and I wear socks that purposely don't match. As a matter of fact, nothing is color coordinated. I love it.
Being that my profession requires me to always be conscious of hair, clothes and makeup, it feels great to not care about all that stuff. Believe it or not it relaxes me. My family looks at me like I've lost my mind, but I know exactly what I'm doing. Mac, and Loreal become foreign words to me. Suits, hose, and heels are strange objects with no purpose in my life. I am blind to flat irons and hairspray because I prefer the Phyllis Diller treatment.
Yes, this is the freedom of the weekend I celebrate.
What's special about this weekend is that my son will be picked up by his Gigi for some quality grandparent time. That means Chase will not be prying open my eyelids at 7 a.m. requesting breakfast, playtime and a piggy back ride throughout our home. This weekend I will have some "me" time. You do know you have to carve out some "me" time every now and then. Right? If I don't get "me" time, Danita can be a very "special" person. I'm sure you catch my drift.
Also, I will paying tribute to one of my favorite celebrities this weekend. He is getting married in Italy to actress Jessica Biel. Yes, I'm talking about Justin "Cry Me A River" Timberlake. The man I named my pomapoo after. The man who was my favorite boy-band singer and kept me dancing to "I'm Bringing Sexy Back."
Yep, he's off the market. Gone. Bye, Bye, Bye.
I'll be playing his CDs on Saturday as I remember and reflect on our fantasy relationship.
So, enjoy yourself this weekend. Get out there and do something fun. Have dinner with friends, catch a movie, go shopping, visit a museum, do yard work or maybe do some volunteer work. How about losing yourself in mindless reality TV shows to give your brain a break. I've been known to do that every now and then.
But be aware of the fact that this time will seem to go by very quickly. And then you'll be dealing with that day most of us dread. It's the day that kicks off your work week. The day that may give you the blues. The day known as Monday. It will be here before you know it, so make the next couple of days count.
