A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Mitt Romney ahead of the other candidates vying for the republican nomination here in Ohio. Before we know it, all the candidates will be here stumping for our votes here on our own turf.
I was born and raised in Ohio but spent the last 10 years or so working in other states. For the last five years, I lived and worked in New York State and the 2012 presidential elections is just one of the reasons I'm glad to be back home.
New York is a "blue" state; the bluest of the blue, and presidential candidates don't visit states they know they can't win or know they won't have a hard time winning in. As a voter, I'm looking forward to seeing these candidates up close and personal. As a reporter, I'm looking forward to seeing how the presidential candidates react to local causes and questions that matter to people here in northeastern Ohio.
Sure, by November we'll be sick of the campaign ads and V.I.P. visits, but it will be nice to be back in a swing state, where so much matters on how we decide to cast our ballots!
