We didn't know it at the time, but terrorists had commandeered a United Airlines jetliner.

It was September 11, 2001, terrorists had seized control of a passenger plane that had been bound for a cross-country flight. When the terrorists took control of the plane, it was flying over Cleveland.

The newsroom at News 5 in Cleveland moved into its highest priority emergency mode when two hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. A third crashed into the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C., and a fourth crashed into a meadow in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The adrenalin flowed heavily through all the bodies in the newsroom as the events of the terrorist attack continued to unfold.

The attached video is this reporter's recollection of how journalists moved into action 15 years ago.  It was a story that presented many questions and few answers in the hours that followed. Journalists were trying to tell the story, and check their own raw emotions.
