CLEVELAND - Cleveland Metroparks rangers visited Euclid Park Elementary School in Cleveland on Monday morning to introduce their newest member, K-9 Officer Rico, to the children.
Officer Rico, a 6-week-old German shepherd, was donated to the Rangers by police dog trainer Tom Schmidt and is the 84th dog that the founder of Buckeye Area Regional K-9 has donated to police departments.
The kids got to meet all three of the Rangers K-9s; Rocky, Logan,Gambit and retired K-9 Radar, who is Rico's grandfather.
Ranger Mike Barr is Rico's handler and they will train and live together 24-7 forging the lifelong bond necessary for police dogs and their handlers to share.
