Local social media specialist to compete Friday on 'Let's Ask America'

CLEVELAND - Communicating via the internet is nothing new for Rachel VanArsdale.

VanArsdale, 24, is a social media specialist at Melamed Riley and Friday night she will compete to win up to $50,000 on the TV game show, " Let's Ask America ."

"Let's Ask America" is the TV game show where contestants can win money from the comfort of their own home. Four contestants are chosen to play the game via Skype from their home, answering questions about fun and irreverent topics to find out what people are thinking.

VanArsdale had auditioned for a different TV game show back in 2010 and was cut before making it on the show. The same casting producer reached out to her this past summer and asked if she'd be interested in participating in a new game show.

"Of course I said yes!" said VanArsdale. "I was jazzed when I heard I made the cut!"

VanArsdale competed on the show via Skype and said it was a great experience.

"It was a little odd having people talk to you while you were trying to keep smiling. My cheeks hurt by the end of the night," she said.

VanArsdale had such a fun experience with the show that she recommends other Clevelanders try out for it, too.

"If the technology component is holding you back, I wouldn't worry about it. The crew of the show are quite helpful and make sure you can set it up correctly," she said. "It was a fun day and now I have the answer to that one dreaded question we all get asked – "tell me something unique about yourself."
