Trump leveled accusations against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

"You were supposed to make a billion dollar in the state," said Trump, "you have right now a $2.2 billion deficit."

Our partners at PolitiFact, one of the most respected fact-checking organizations in the country, found Trump's statement to be "mostly false".

The state budget Walker approved in 2015 was balanced.

While there was a shortfall, it was not technically a deficit.

Trump's statement ignores critical facts that would give a different impression.

Meanwhile, Kasich made claims about his role in reducing the federal deficit while he was in Congress.

"I'm the one person on this stage and one of the few people in the country that led the effort as the chief architect of the last time we had a balanced budget," said Kasich.

After reviewing the fact, we found Kasich's statement to be "mostly true".

In fact, Kasich was among several key players and not solely the chief architect in balancing the budget and other factors like an improving economy also played a role.
