Ohio Auditor Dave Yost will testify before House Agriculture Committee about errors in the food stamp program Wednesday morning.
In a recently released audit, Yost found $31,000 in questionable costs.
"We can do better," he said.
The audit found 36 cases where recipients received about $24,000 in benefits a year after they died, including benefits used by dead people.
Yost said the payments were unacceptable and undermine a program that aims to feed the hungry.
The audit also confirmed what 5 On Your Side Investigators uncovered last fall.
There are 1,337 households in Ohio with food benefits balances exceeding $23,000, including a Cuyahoga County househould with a $20,610 balance.
After our investigation, U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH7) and 26 other members of Congress demanded the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees SNAP, investigate the high balances.

State Auditor Dave Yost released the findings of Ohio's $2.5 billion Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program last month.
Yost said the findings indicate fraud isn't "widespread," but that even a small percentage can add up.
