KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says the hiring of an independent investigator will "send a signal" about what transpired regarding fraud allegations at his Pilot Flying J company.
Haslam made his comments last week during a news conference announcing plans to begin a nationwide search for a special investigator.
"I think this will signal to everyone about what did or did not happen," said Haslam.
In addition, Haslam's attorney said Reid Weingarten will have "unfettered access" to the company's books.
"He'll sort of look inside the company to determine who did what, when and where," said Aubrey Harwell who was hired by Haslam following the FBI raid at Pilot headquarters.
