NORTH PERRY, Ohio - An issue at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant is now under investigation following high levels of radiation in the plant's work area.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it has begun a special inspection after the incident on April 22 to find out what caused higher than expected radiation levels. The problem happened while the plant, located in Lake County, was shutdown for refueling.
According to a news release from the NRC, this issue had no affect of plant employees or the public. The news release also said that "the licensee does not believe the workers received radiation in excess of NRC limits."
