CLEVELAND - Giant Eagle is partnering with Northeast Ohio food banks to help "Check Out Hunger."
Through March 31, customers can help provide food to those in need by tearing off a $1, $5 or $10 coupon at the cash register at any Giant Eagle location.
The grocery chain will match donations (up to $40,000) between Friday, March 22 and Sunday, March 24.
"Check Out Hunger" is part of the Harvest for Hunger campaign. Harvest for Hunger helps make free food available to the more than 500 agency programs operated by the foodbanks, such as hot meal sites, soup kitchens and pantries.
This year's goal is to raise enough food and funds for 16 million meals, one million more than in 2012.
Donations can also be made online at www.HarvestForHunger.org.
