ELYRIA, Ohio - Police in Elyria are conducting interviews and trying to find out more information about what caused the death of a 2-year-old girl.
According to Lt. A.D. Eichenlaub with the Elyria Police Department, an ambulance was called to a house on Rosewood Drive for a report of a toddler being "very lethargic and bleeding from her mouth" on Sunday.
When the ambulance arrived at the scene, the 2-year-old was in full cardiac arrest, Eichenlaub said. She was taken to Elyria Medical Center where CPR was performed and she was later pronounced dead.
Police executed a search warrant at the home to search for evidence of the cause of death or foul play, but the results of the search are not being disclosed. According to Eichenlaub, the cause of death has yet to be determined.
The Lorain County Coroner is expected to perform an autopsy.
Police said interviews are continuing with family members and others who have had recent contact with the child.
