CLEVELAND - Assault charges were filed Friday against Cleveland Police Patrol Officer Edwin Powell.
Police chief Calvin Williams announced Friday Officer Powell will also be charged with menacing and interfering with civil rights.
The charges stemmed from an investigation launched because of misconduct by Officer Powell.
Powell is set to appear in court March 11 at 8:30 a.m.
Powell will be placed on administrative duties pending a disciplinary hearing in front of Director of Public Safety Michael McGrath.
