Cleveland Metroparks golf courses officially open March 14

Metroparks courses still offer winter round rates

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio - Though many area golf courses have been open for more than 12 days due to better-than-expected March weather, Cleveland Metroparks officially announced the opening of all of its golf courses March 14.

Metroparks courses are still offering the regular winter golf rate of $10.50 for a nine-hole round until next week. The rate will go up depending on each course's guidelines. It is best to check with each course for any regular, or discounted rates that may apply.

Cleveland Metroparks golf courses include: Manakiki in Willoughby Hills, Sleepy Hollow in Brecksville, Shawnee Hills in Bedford, Big Met in Fairview Park, Little Met in Cleveland, Seneca in Broadview Heights, Mastick Woods in Cleveland and Washington Golf Course in Newburgh Heights.

On Wednesday, March 14, Manakiki had 95 golfers signed up for tee times by 1 p.m. Big Met had more than 170 by the same time. The exceptionally warm weather had retired golfers pitted against those playing hooky from work all day.

In March and April this year, golfers can take advantage of "Free Replays" Monday through Thursday. This offer is for an additional nine holes at Shawnee Hills par 3 course, Little Met, Mastick Woods, or Washington Golf Course immediately following a nine hole purchase. After an eighteen hole round is paid and played at Sleepy Hollow, Manakiki, Big Met, Seneca, or Shawnee Hills, those courses will also offer an additional free nine holes. This offer is not valid for league, or tournament play.
