NORTHFIELD, Ohio - A statue sent out to bring a message of hope, "a peace plan for the world", is in Cleveland.
The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima has traveled the world since being blessed in Portugal in 1947.
Thursday evening it was in Northfield at Saint Barnabas Church, one of 19 planned stops in northeast Ohio.
The statue was placed upon the altar at the church during a holy hour of prayer. Those attending prayed the rosary, praying for world peace.
"I think Our Lady is calling for world peace and that she wants all of us to pray the rosary," said Cindy Russo, a parishioner of Saint Barnabas and also an organizer of Thursday's statue event.
When asked to describe having the statue at her church, she pause before she said, "Humble. Awesome. Honored. Amazing."
The statue has been around the world numerous times. Miracles have been reported wherever the statue travels, including shedding tears many times.
Fatima is an important religious site. It is where the Virgin Mary appeared to three children in 1917.
The Cleveland area tour continues through Sept. 21.
