The woman charged with disorderly conduct in the RTA uppercut incident that went viral was sentenced Tuesday.
CLEVELAND - Shidea Lane had her voice heard on the airwaves, as she defended herself amid the controversy following the video of her being uppercut by RTA bus driver Artis Hughes.
Lane was on Art McKoy's radio show Sunday. She joined with supporters at the radio station on St. Clair Avenue to tell her side of the story.
"I have been in relationships before where men just disrespect and dog and put their hands on me and for this man who has no clue who I was to just disrespect me - I just couldn't take it anymore," Lane said. "It was going too far."
Hughes claimed that Lane spit at him, prompting him to punch her.
"I take care of my daughter as a beautiful mother and I just want people to change their perspective about me and not just judge me before they know anything," Lane said.
Hughes had previously appeared on McKoy's show to give his view of the situation.
RTA fired the bus driver on Tuesday, Nov. 6 as a result of the incident.
The RTA driver involved in an altercation on his bus was sentenced Tuesday.
RTA police are investigating the assault on an off-duty bus driver on Thursday.
