The Cleveland Municipal Court Human Trafficking Docket held it's first graduation of the F.L.Y. program on Thursday night.
After being around for two years, the program 'F.L.Y.' short for Freedom Lives in You, celebrated it's first and only graduate, Amanda Britton. Britton is a survivor of date rape, drug addiction, homelessness, and prostitution.
Britton said that sex trafficking and drugs made her unrecognizable to herself and her seven children. She'd done crack, relapsed, and had entered prostitution. One night she fell into a coma and although doctors promised her family she'd slip away, she woke up four days later.
While she'd tried everything, nothing seemed to work. Until she started the F.L.Y. program. Britton said "It let me know that I'm not alone. That there's other women that have been pimped out."
Judge Marilyn Cassidy said Britton was the graduation of deadly living. Britton credits Cassidy for saving her life.
