Uber car service launching in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio with free rides for 2 weeks

CLEVELAND - Uber, an app that connects people with drivers who can give them rides, is launching its Cleveland car service with free rides April 8 to April 23.

Any person can get up to five rides that would cost less than $25 for free during the promotion.

Uber is rolling out two tiers of service in Cleveland: UberX, which enlists regularly-licensed drivers with at least four seats in their car; and UberBLACK, which enlists professional chauffeurs driving a black sedan, town cars or crossover SUV that seats at least four or a full-sized SUV that seats at least six.

The company claims that their rates are cheaper than regular taxi fares.
