Uber and Lyft drivers will now be charged a $4 fee when entering Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to pick up passengers due to a new legislation from Cleveland City Council.

On Monday night's meeting, the council voted to extend the $4 per fare charge to Uber and Lyft drivers that airport taxi cabs are already paying.

A state law that was adopted earlier this year allows cities to regulate Uber and Lyft within airport boundaries. The council reasoned at their meeting on Monday that the added charge would 'level the playing field among ground transportation services.'
