Thousands of people put on their sneakers and filled Voinovich park for the "Autism Speaks" walk

CLEVELAND - Thousands of people put on their sneakers and filled Voinovich park Sunday morning for the "Autism Speaks" walk.

The fifth annual event was emceed by NewsChannel 5's meteorologist Jason Nicholas.

One in every 110 children has Autism and there are many theories as to what causes the fastest-growing developmental disorder. Sunday's event was held to raise awareness and help raise money for critical scientific research in Cleveland.

"Autism Speaks" hopes to raise 500 thousand dollars from this event. The group plans on hosting another event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October.
