CLEVELAND - Two popular Ohio City businesses are closed due to a dispute between the owner and landlord.
Landlord Aaron Waldbaum said The Garage Bar and Dragonfly Lounge, on West 25th Street, are closed as of Monday.
Waldbaum told NewsChannel5 that the owner of both businesses, Marlin Kaplan, hasn't paid rent since November 2011.
He said that Sunday, Kaplan took a piece of artwork (that he was not sure if belonged to him) and his final paycheck from Dragonfly and told a staff member to "have a nice life."
Waldbaum said he has been unable to get in contact with Kaplan and he did what any responsible landlord would do.
Despite the issues, Waldbaum said he loves being a landlord in Ohio City and is currently entertaining new offers for businesses in those buildings.
Kaplan told the Cleveland Scene that Waldbaum closed the businesses without warning.
Both businesses occupy the Heil's Block building in the 1800 block of West 25th Street.
