The Fourth District of the Cleveland Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred Wednesday around 1:40 a.m. at East 93rd Street and Carton Avenue.

According to police, the victim, identified as Magdalena Morales, 28, said she was walking home from the store when she noticed two cars following her. She continued to walk east on Carton Avenue when a black man, described as being in his late teens or early 20s, got out of one of the cars and ordered Morales to give up her money as he pointed a silver handgun at her. The suspect searched Morales' pockets and took $64, two cans of Sprite and three cigars.

Morales told police the suspect then got into a white Kia Sole, which fled the area. Morales said a total of four suspects were in the two cars, the other car being a black Kia Optima. She reported one suspect said something profane to her while she was walking and the suspects offered her a ride. She refused and was able to get the license plate number on the black Kia Optima, which was reported stolen from Broadway Avenue Tuesday evening.

Police said the white Kia Sole was located in a field at East 89th Street and Laisy Avenue unoccupied. Police learned that car was reported stolen on Feb. 7 from East 86th Street. While the white Kia was being towed, the black Kia passed by officers at the scene.

The white Kia was spotted again at East 110th Street and Union Avenue, police reported. Officers followed the car until back up zone cars arrived and a pursuit began. The pursuit ended and started up again several times as officers lost sight of the car and to ensure citizen safety. It was not relocated and no arrests were made. Police said the car was seen multiple times in the Fourth District, as recently as 12 p.m. Wednesday.

During the pursuit, police said, a crash occurred damaging two zone cars. No civilian cars were damaged, nor any other property. Both zone cars remained driveable.
