CLEVELAND - Gregory S. Schillo, 31 of Sagamore Hills, has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined $5,000 for hitting and seriously injuring a man on a bike on Nov. 10, 2012.
Schillo was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee while under the influence and hit a man that was riding his bicycle in the bike lane on the Lorain-Carnegie bridge in Cleveland, police said.
The crash caused the victim to be thrown into the street, causing serious injuries.
After a bench trial in Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams' courtroom, the judge found Schillo guilty of two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Schillo faced a mandatory prison term of one to five years.
