COLUMBUS, Ohio - The death of Ariel Castro at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's Correction Reception Center remains under investigation.
Ariel Castro was found hanging from a prison cell window hinge with his bed sheet late Sept. 3.
According to JoEllen Smith with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, the investigation report remains on track to be completed by the end of the month for the director's review.
The director will then consider recommendations. A release is expected by early October.
Meanwhile, two correction officers remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the review.
Castro was convicted in the kidnapping and rape of three Cleveland area women, with whom he held hostage for more than a decade. During their captivity, Castro fathered a child with one of the women.
