Five days after police said a man abducted a 6-year-old girl from her Cleveland home, there are still no arrests. Residents described a photo of the potential suspect that they said the FBI was showing them.
“The hood was over, and it had the fur," said Dean Furcello who lives a few houses away from where the abduction happened on West 104th Street. "It was a winter coat.”
Furcello said the photo was black and white and grainy. The man wore a winter coat, and his face was largely hidden by the coat's furry hood.
“The build and walk really looked familiar but we couldn’t see the face that good," added Furcello.
Cleveland police said the girl described him as a white man with light brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and has at least one tattoo.
The little girl was able to give police several details. She told police she was taken to a brick home, with a white front door and black front porch railings. Police said she was held in a bedroom and on a wall there was a mural or wallpaper that had a deer or moose with grass and trees. The girl also described two dogs inside the home, one white the other brown. There were two adults in the home as well according to police, the victim described a black man and brown woman. Police do not believe the two adults knew that the young girl was being held in the bedroom.
Multiple residents in the neighborhood have cameras mounted on the outsides of their homes. They told us they believe the suspect was casing the area prior to Saturday's incident.
Police said the 6-year-old was taken from the downstairs area of her home around 4:30 a.m. that day. She was later dropped off at a home on Lyric Avenue, which is about two miles away, Saturday night.
The Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services said they are not investigating the family, rather they are providing trauma services to the girl and her family. They are also providing an interviewer who continues to talk to the victim.
There is a confidential tip line set up for anyone to call with information. That number is 216-622-6842. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect.
