RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio - The rescued pit bulls from a Cleveland dogfighting ring last December all have a new home. The last of the litter, Mustang Sally, along with Coletrain, are heading to the sunny land of Austin, Texas where "Love-A-Bull Rescue" will take them in and find them loving homes.
Julie Konopinski, of Cleveland City Kennels, said the organization in Texas has offered to take the dogs in and to give them a second chance at life. Volunteer Jason Brown is glad there's an organization that believes in saving pit bulls and is willing to find the dogs a loving environment.
The playful pooches are very obedient and always wagging an energetic tail. They seemed eager for the flight from Cuyahoga County Airport down south.
Pilot Eric Mele and others gave their own time and money to fly the loving animals across the country at no cost to the rescue agencies.
There will be a fundraiser April 14 by Badges For Bullies at the Zone Car Lounge on Cleveland's near west side. It will benefit the 27 dogs who have been diagnosed with Babesia Gibsoni disease, a rare blood disorder.
